FMAATC History

2024/12/01 update

The “Ford Model AA Truck Club” was formed in July of 1986 with a group of 24 AA’ers.

The club founder, Bill Cilker, served as President from 1986 thought 1994. Neil Wilson served as President from 1995 though the present.


Some Club History

1986 (July) – Bill Cilker of California took on the responsibility of the club. During his presidency, Bill sent out seven newsletters and held several club meetings at various MAFCA national meets.

1987 (October) – The club received a chapter charter from the “Model A Ford Club of America” (MAFCA).

1986 (January) – The club became a region of the “Model A Restorers Club” (MARC).

1995 – Club responsibility was transferred to Neil Wilson of Colorado. Starting in 1995, the yearly publication has been sent out in April of each year. There have been several club meetings at MAFCA and MARC national meets over the past years.

2004 – Club member Mike Greene volunteered to develop and maintain the fmaatc.org website.

2011 – Club member Dan Gambill volunteered to be the club meeting and products coordinator. Dan organizes and usually heads up Ford Model AA Truck Club meetings at national MARC and MAFCA meets.

2013 – The aafords.com site was developed as an extension of the fmaatc.org club site.

2014 – The club site (fmaatc.org) was overhauled by Neil Wilson to include more information.

2015 – Club member Dan Gambill resigned as the club meeting and products coordinator. His current job and other responsibilities were taking all of his time.

2017 – The AA Fords page was added to the FMAATC.org club’s site to provide direct links to aafords.com.

2019 – The FMAATC.org and AAFords.com sites were combined as one AAFords.com site. This allowed for easier maintenance and updating.

2021 – $6.00 email type memberships were offered (can download the pdf aaer). Email type memberships were required for foreign members. The yearly print type membership was increased to $11.00 (a $1.00 increase) for USPS delivered Double A’er publications. Renewals were changed to a two-year rate to cut-down on processing costs.

2022 – The print type member renewal was increased to $12.00. The two-year renewal was continued as a requirement for both email and print type members. A website-Double A’er (web aaer) was designed for the 2022 Double A’er and will continue each year. This view option was added to the fmaatc.org website. Members are given a password to access the “AAer Viewing” page at fmaatc.org. This page allows for web aaer access and pdf aaer downloading.

2023 – The fmaatc.org website was modified to use membership ID as the password for access to the web aaer viewing and pdf aaer downloading.

2024 – The membership options were change to include – web aaer, pdf aaer, and print aaer. Each with a different two-year renewal amount ($10, $20, $28). All Double A’er information (excluding the Store – Past Double A’er information) was moved to the fmaatc.org website. A membership type “adv” was add for business advertisers. The Double A’er was re-designated from “newsletter” to “publication”.
